Sporting fun helps feed the elderly

Soccer is played every Sunday and there are also potential tournaments to be held every month

The soccer stars of Smartiesville are in action again thanks to the efforts of Mr Joey Pillay.

Many children, young and not-so-young, are participants of this weekend sport. The first friendly match was played on Sunday and it was a great atmosphere as the neighbourhood came out in numbers to watch the game.

Soccer is played every Sunday and there are also potential tournaments to be held every month. The proceeds of these tournaments will be used to feed the elderly in the area. There are already seven teams that participate, including one girls’ team.

If anyone would like to join this weekend fun or make a donation (cash or sporting equipment), they can contact Mr Pillay on 036-634-5343 or 083-959-0360 for more information.
