Bowlers draw the shots for club fours kitty
The first club competition of the new bowling season got under way last weekend, with the club drawn fours.

The first club competition of the new bowling season got under way last weekend, with the club drawn fours.
Eight teams of men and four teams of women battled it our on the greens of the Newcastle Bowling Club this weekend.
The four women’s teams played round robin format matches. The team of Dorothy Crosbie, Sue Hutchinson, Trix Baasden and Lindsay McArthur were crowned victors after they peeled one and won two games to end on five points.
In second place, on three points, was the team of Alice Howe, Phyllis Reis, Esther Willemse and Carien Coetzee.
The eight men’s teams were divided into two sections of four, with a round robin format once again being used to determine the two section winners.
Sectional play proved to be very tight with no team winning all their games, and the section winners winning on a count out.
The final was then played between the team of Frans Schoon, Simon Ball, Graham Massey and Martin Baasden againts Andy Crosbie, Trevor Hutchinson, Colin Broderick and Alex Zaal.
Andy’s team started off well, scoring on the first two heads and remained in the lead for the rest of the game to annex the club fours title.
