‘Men in blue’ excel on the cricket field
Shaun was selected as the team's vice-captain and scored the most runs in the tournament, racking up 289
Shaun Fourie and Naeem Mohammed from Ladysmith SAPS played cricket for the SAPS Natal Provincial team in Potchefstroom from September 28 to October 4. The Natal team played 10- and 20-over matches, winning five and losing five. Overall, they came fifth in the tournament.
Shaun was selected as the team’s vice-captain and scored the most runs in the tournament, racking up 289. His best score was 89 not out. He also received the trophy for being the ‘Most Valuable Player’ in the tournament.
Naeem took 10 wickets, with his best figures being 3/7 in four overs. This year was Naeem’s first SAPS tournament, with Shaun having taken part since 2003. These cricketing ‘men in blue’ say that the competition was strong and that they are looking to do even better next time round. They also say they feel privileged to play for the SAPS team.
