Cast off for freshwater anglers
Eager anglers queued at the main gate from the early hours of Sunday morning, hoping to fish in their favourite zones and spots.
The first round of the Natal Freshwater Angling Association (NFWAA) knock-out fixture was fished at Sanford Islands, Chelmsford Dam on Sunday November 6.

The captains of the clubs conducted the formalities and the draw for zones.
Docrats Angling Club fished against Chelmsford in C zone, the least favoured zone among the clubs.
In an excellent showing, Docrats managed to accumulate 56 points against the 27 of Chelmsford. This was also the highest score for the day among all the clubs.
Dannhauser and Glencoe Angling clubs were drawn in D zone, most anglers’ favourite zone.
Glencoe was no match for the team from Dannhauser. The target species for the day was barbel and more than half of the fish weighed were of the catfish species.
The heaviest of the day was a beauty of 9.7kg, caught by Afzal Cotwal. Glencoe was out-fished by 54 points to 27.
The much anticipated duel between Itec Free Spool and Challengers Angling clubs took place in E zone.
Itec Free Spool had a full team for this outing and proved too strong for under-represented Challengers. The result was a 39 – 22 points victory and a place in the semi-finals.
The semi-finals will see Itec Free Spool come up against Docrats while Dannhauser will take on Riverside Angling Club that was awarded a bye in the first round.
The next fixture on the calendar of the NFWAA is the third round league which will take place at Sanford Islands on November 30.
