Walking to improve fitness and health

The walkers all received medals at the end of the event

A ‘Big Walk’ was held on Saturday afternoon at Settlers Park.

The walk was hosted by the Department of Sport & Recreation as an initiative to motivate communities to become more active.

All the walkers received a Powerade drink and had the opportunity to do an aerobics warm-up with instructor Shaldon Mungroo to get them into the groove. The 3km walk did not venture out onto the streets, but was held entirely within the Settlers Park grounds.

The walkers all received medals at the end of the event, during which everyone had fun in the sun with their friends.

The walk was not a competitive event, but all in the name of health and fitness.
