Section A was won by Dundee’s Sylvia Malan (eight + 47) followed by Ilva Zoeppritz (eight + 35).
Section B was won by Newcastle’s Michele Steele (eight + 26 ), Essel Schoeman (Richards Bay) taking second place (eight + seven).
Section A in the men’s event, was likewise only decided after the last game. The decider was played between the unbeaten Brenden van Vreden (Piet Retief) and Trevor Douthwaite (Newcastle), who had lost one game. Brenden kept his earlier momentum going to win the game and his section.
In Section B Shaun Hughes (Estcourt) had already won his section before the last game was played and completed the event with a full house of 10 points followed by Mike Lovell (Richards Bay – six – four).
