On Saturday, February 21, the Ncandu Bowling Club held a very successful sponsored day for bowlers of Newcastle and surrounding towns.
The main sponsor for the day was Jan Serfontein of Northern Natal 4X4 and Outdoor World, and Dr Laurika Robb as a co-sponsor.
A total of 16 teams (48 players) participated in the event, and a total of eight teams received prizes for the day.
Winners for the day: Sid Price; Anil Durdagin and Marie Botha from Newcastle Bowling Club.
Second: Abraham Louw; Abel Bronkhorst and Aubrey Linström from Mahawane Bowling Club, Volksrust.
Third: Sylvia Malan; Willie Nel and Tewie Wessels from Dundee Bowling Club.
Fourth: Greg Connely; Dougie and Essie Slabbert from Dundee Bowling Club.
Fifth: Monte Steele; Fritz Botha and Michelle Steele fom Newcastle Bowling Club.
Sixth: Carl Arndt; Rudi Haschke and Hannelie Arndt from Dundee Bowling Club.
