Four rounds of the popular Fedauto summer league have been completed, and with four more to go, the log positions indicate keen competition among all the teams.
Section One is led by Vicky’s Vixens, who are unbeaten with eight points + 35. They are closely followed by eight teams that have only lost one game: Putt,Putts (six + 39), Brickies (six + 38), Handbrakes (six + 35), Dozy Dudes (six + 28), Farmyard (six + 22), Easy (six + 20), 4 Q’s (six + 13) and NTT GM (six – one).
Section Two is lead by three unbeaten teams: Melo’s (eight + 47) and Eschem (eight + 43), who have both been the most supportive teams of the club, having played in almost every business league since its inception, and Pensioners, who have drawn a game (seven + 30).
They are followed by Valvenet (six + 33), Beach Bums (six + 29), BAT Services (six + 25) and Toppies & Laaities (six + 14). A few of the teams in each section are trying their best to record their first victories, but while doing so, they are ensuring the game is played in the right spirit!
The Northern zones’s ladies and men’s pairs get underway this weekend in Vryheid, and hopefully Newcastle bowlers will continue their good form and return with the titles.
Five Newcastle teams participated in a sponsored competition hosted by Ncandu Bowling Club last Saturday.
Prizes were generously handed out to the first eight teams with Newcastle’s Sid Price, Anil Durgadin and Marie Botha being the victors. Also in the prizes were: Monty and Michelle Steele and Fritz Botha (fifth), Phyllis and Tony Reis and Gert Roos (seventh) and in eighth place, Douglas Steele, Martin Baasden and Lindsay McArthur.
