The Ingagane Youth Forum’s (IYF) development of youth stars continued last weekend, by hosting youth in two sporting codes over two divisions.
Players in the under 14 and under 17 age groups made for a very competitive tournament.
Four teams from Ballengeich, Ingagane, Kilbarchan and Vezubuhle participated, and crowds were not disappointed with the ensuing action.
The girls took on each other in netball, while the boys rumbled it out on the soccer fields.
Playing at home seemed to boost the Ingagane sides’ confidence, and they won three of the four tournament events.
‘Noisy neighbour’ and rival, Ballengeich was the only other team to take a division victory at the end of the day, while Kilbarchan and Vezubuhle were mostly left picking the scraps.
IYF congratulated all players who took home trophies and medals, as well as those who participated in the hopes of bettering their skills.
Zwanani Malinga, general secretary of IYF, explained the goals of the organisation:
“Our programme aims to prepare teams in terms of management, coaching, and in particular formalising the teams to prepare them to participate in national development programmes after one year.”
IYF thanked the Department of Sports and Recreation for its assistance in helping make the event a success.
