Vryheid Rugby Club – First home game for the season

Vryheid Rugby Club will go head to head with Newcastle Highlanders this weekend.
Players have been hard at work preparing for the season ahead and are set to kick off against their long time rivals on home soil this Saturday, April 11.
Vryheid faced the Highlanders in a thrilling match at the end of the last season which kept spectators on the edge of their seats right up until the final whistle.
“Although Vryheid gave their all, and stood a good chance of beating Newcastle after a brilliant season thus far, under excellent leadership and growing support from the spectators, Vryheid’s hopes of victory were dashed and the final whistle was blown with the score standing at 17 – 24 in Newcastle’s favour.” – Vryheid Herald, July 30, 2014
Vryheid’s second team will face their formidable opponents on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm, while the first team match against the Highlanders will follow at approximately 4:30pm and promises to be an electrifying encounter between two teams equally hungry for domination and victory on the field.
