Angling champs take home the trophy

Paper House emerged victorious and was crowned APL League Champions with 62 points, followed by Team Streetwire with 47 points.

The final round of the Vees Micro Enterprises was recently held at Richgate Park.

The top three anglers were Kaveer Singh at 20 points, Tony Singh on 19 points and Monty Slabbert with 18 points.

The orange cap was presented to Kaveer, while Monty was given the purple cap, as the overall leader.

The title contenders for the season were Tony Singh with the heaviest scaled fish weighing in at 3,490kg; Faizel Seedat with the heaviest non-scaled fish weighing in at 3,690kg; and Shakeel Sheik and Kishore Datadin with the heaviest scaly of 650 grams.

Shane Mangaroo was crowned Champion of Champions; Harry Singh was dubbed Knock-Out Champion and Internal KO Singles Champion, while Monty Slabbert was named League Champion. Dan Govender was named Senior Angler of the Year, Rishen Nankoo and Minesh Gopi were crowned as Knock-Out Doubles Champion.

The title for the “Angler of the Year” was awarded to Monty Slabbert, as he led the way with 105 points, followed by his nearest rival Ossie Oosthuizen on 87 points and Vicky Bhooli on 82 points.

The next APL competition will be the Social Outing Championship on April 18 and April 19 at Sandford and will be the concluding fixture of a very successful inaugural.

The new season will start on August 1.

The APL is currently taking membership applications for the new season.
