Top athletes visit Wembezi

During their coaching clinics, they gave advice to the young ones about long distance running, a runner's diet as well as avoiding taking medication

Top South African and international athletes visited the Wembezi Stadium recently to coach young runners. During their coaching clinics, they gave advice to the young ones about long distance running, a runner’s diet as well as avoiding taking medication like Disprin and smoking dagga.

Councillor SD Magubane, who is also the Chairperson of the Sports Portfolio at Umtshezi Municipality, welcomed the athletes; Ludwik Mamabolo, winner of 2012 Comrades Marathon, Sepitle Phaladi, Best Ngwenya, Reuben Maopola and Bethuel Mlambo.

He promised that an athletic program will be drafted and introduced to council as this should be an on-going programme. Runners that attended were from Loskop, Colita, Bhekuzulu, KwaLomode and Wembezi.
