IN PERFECT weather, the KZN Junior Freshwater Angling trials were fished on Saturday and Sunday at Klipfontein Dam. Anglers in two categories, Under 13 and Under 19, came from Vryheid, Newcastle, Dundee, Ladysmith, Pietermaritzburg and Volksrust (which falls under Newcastle).

From these trials, a team to represent KZN will be chosen to represent the province at the SA Championships, to be held in December at Bloemhof Dam in the North West Province.

In very low water (Klipfontein is sitting at about 62% of its capacity), the fishing on Saturday morning was reported to be “very slow”, and the few fish caught were “on the small side”.
