The Northern KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Sub Union League showed interesting developments after teams played the second game of the tournament.

Pongola took a close victory over Vryheid, when the team beat the opposition 26-21 scoring four tries to Pongola’s three and having taken and held a constant five-point lead from the halftime score of 12-seven. This win put Pongola into fourth place, while Vryheid remained at the bottom of the table.

Although Piet Retief led Volksrust 15-14 at halftime, Volksrust managed to pull back a victory, scoring four tries and winning the game 28-23. Volksrust is second on the log with six points, with Piet Retief following closely, just one point behind.

After the Highlanders thrashed fellow Newcastle side 81 14, the team leads the league with an impressive four point advantage over second placed Volskrust.

Vryheid 2 leads Division 2 on 10 points but Newcastle 2 holds the same number of points, but falls short of taking the top spot due to points difference.

Flying Eagles leads the new Division 3 on five points, and Ladysmith United brings up second place on four points.
