Football fanatic scores for SPCA
With his competitors diminishing as quickly as the distance and angle of the penalty-style kicks were changed, Mr Zwane was the face of concentration.
Power, precision and accuracy.
When it comes to a soccer ball, Johan Zwane is a man who masterfully combines these three elements to find the back of the net with ease.
On Saturday, he was among a small group at the Vodacom Winter Festival goal-kicking challenge.
And this year, Mr Zwane was in top form.
With his competitors diminishing as quickly as the distance and angle of the penalty-style kicks were changed, Mr Zwane was the face of concentration.
Finally, with the pressure on, he struck it true to win the R500 prize.
Instead of taking the money for himself, however, Mr Zwane opted to donate the prize money to the SPCA, exclaiming he loved dogs.
“It was tough; it wasn’t easy to win,” he said after the competition ended.
This year was an improvement on Mr Zwane’s performance at last year’s Winter Festival goal-kicking competition, where he ended among the top entrants.
His determination was the key to success in 2015.
“I was really good at soccer as a boy but I didn’t practise for the competition.”
