Gail Boettiger won the Lalparsad Inc Attorneys sponsored monthly mug on a nett 65 and in doing so made history by becoming the first lady golfer to win a mug contested by men only

Gail Boettiger won the Lalparsad Inc Attorneys sponsored monthly mug on a nett 65 and in doing so made history by becoming the first lady golfer to win a mug contested by men only since the opening of the club in 1910. Lady golfers were not allowed to play in men’s competitions let alone in a monthly mug.
How things have changed as the ladies were not allowed in the bar and were served through a hatch. Good sense prevailed and the powers that be decided last year that ladies will form part of the mug. Gail won the stableford on 43 points.
A nett 66 and 42 stab points resulted in second placed Gordon Smith being cut one stroke. Fred Vickers who won his first mug last month came in third on nett 67 and 41 points. The Gerry’s Motors closest to the pin on number two for two was won by up and coming golfer James Muller.
He holed his second shot to share the two club money with Kyle Vickers, Adrian Brown, and Deejay Ramdhav. Frank Ashe was closest to the pin on number three.
The Wednesday betterball was won by Owen Mcluckie and Jeremy Brown on 47 points followed by Gordon Smith and Lional Laatz who made the only two club. Friday’s alliance was won by Dave “Hotdog” Phillips, Dave Diedrick, Bunn and Gina Hamman on 113 pts. The President vs Captain will take place on May 16. The Club Championships will take place on May 23 and 24.
