Taking on the other Zone winners

Good luck to our teams travelling to Volksrust this weekend to contest the District Pairs Championships

Another “WOW” weekend of fabulous bowls in beautiful weather – how lucky can you be?

Good luck to our teams travelling to Volksrust this weekend to contest the District Pairs Championships. Barbara Baleri with Janet Barnardo and Rodney Perrin with Eros Jannon are sure to be a force to be reckoned with as they take on the other Zone winners. Do travel safely.

The Club Pairs Championships got off to a good start on Saturday morning and will be continued this weekend. The men’s sections are down to one more game and here, Eric Robinson and Rod van Deventer are leading one section, while Pradeep Singh and Raymond Streatfield lead the other.

The ladies are also down to a final game, which will determine the outcome of the sections. Here, the games between Barbara Elworthy / Nora Simpson and Charmaine van der Merwe / Fathima Moola, as well as the game between Jean Crane / Emma van Deventer and Magriet Coetzee / Veronica Malan will determine the winners of the sections. Good luck to all the participants.

Bergville hosted the Midlands Trials for the teams selection for the Inter-Zone, which will take place at Klipbank on June 6 and 7. Congratulations to those selected, being Pradeep Singh and Rodney Perrin, with reserves Bob Corrigham and Eros Jannon. In the ladies’, it’s Magriet Coetzee, Veronica Malan, Desre Maartens, Ida Oosthuizen, Barbara Baleri, Janet Barnardo and Melissa Streatfield, with reserves Shenaaz Singh, Maureen Streatfield and Charmaine van der Merwe. Well done and good luck in the tournament.

Sunday is Hospice Day at Klipbank and if you have not yet entered, please contact Shenaaz ASAP. Hospice is a really worthwhile charity and needs YOUR support, so do get your entry in quickly.
