Golden oldies geared up for league

This coming Saturday, May 9, seven soccer teams from across KwaZulu-Natal will be descending on Newcastle to participate in the second leg of the Golden Oldies Football League.

With participants older than 50 years, the league kicked off in Durban on March 14, Newcastle’s team will be defending their home turf from teams hailing from Chatsworth, Durban Central, KwaMashu, Phoenix, Pietermaritzburg, Tongaat and Umlazi.

There are nine games set for the day and residents are encouraged to show their support and cheer on the local oldies team at Fernwood Sports Grounds.

Kick-off will take place at 11am with two youth teams who will set the pace for the day’s games.
