Bowling for victory

Newcastle Bowling Club was the place to be on Sunday, when the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTHS) hosted its annual bowls day.

Held in conjunction with the women’s association (MOTHWA), the day was more than a social gathering with competitive undertones, as shell holes from Harrismith, Ladysmith, Vryheid and Dundee battled it out on the greens with local MOTH members.

With a total of 18 teams and approximately 72 players, the day was the ideal opportunity to renew old friendships.

While Ladysmith’s team, Siegetown, clinched the victory, the jubilant atmosphere ensured everyone walked away feeling like a champion.
