Vryheid Rugby Club – Men in maroon triumphant once more
Dedication and discipline on the field led Vryheid's second team to an impressive victory over the visiting team, who failed to score in the second half, while Vryheid racked up the points, bringing the final score to a magnificent 53 - 7 in favour of the home team.
The men in maroon played host to Pongola and Ladysmith United on Saturday evening at Vryheid Rugby Club.
The second team went up against the visitors from Ladysmith in the first match of the evening, leaving them trailing at half time with 26 points to 7.
W Steele; M Msomi; S Mbatha; F Barnard; M Els; D Aspden and S Jele each scored single tries during the match, with T Mtungwa scoring two and M Stride and J Barnard kicking the ball between the posts for four and two conversions respectively.

Vryheid’s first team fared just as well in their match against Pongola, limiting the visiting side to a mere three points on the scoreboard.
C Holtzhauzen scored four tries, D Herbst scored two and M Ellis; P Breytenbach and J Herbst each scored one. J Herbst also managed seven conversions, crushing the opposition and bringing the first team to victory with an impressive score of 57 – 3 on home soil.
