Opening doors for youth golfers

Lesley van der Vaart, coorganiser and member of the Northern Region women’s golf, explained pupils from Grade 1 to 12 would be welcomed.

Northern Region women golfers are safeguarding the future of the sport.

Through the Youth Golf Open on July 17, these avid sportswomen have undertaken to get young people swinging and putting for the future.

In their words, it is all about generating interest among pupils.

Lesley van der Vaart, coorganiser and member of the Northern Region women’s golf, explained pupils from Grade 1 to 12 would be welcomed.

She is also expecting entries from across Northern KZN.

Mrs van der Vaart added her son, Daniel had been to a prestigious golf school and would be on hand to offer advice and assess the play of the young golfers during a clinic session.

Pupils with a handicap rating will enjoy a round on the course.

“There will be a good competition for the handicap players.”

The entry fee for both handicap and non-handicap players is R100.

This will include lunch, and organisers have reiterated booking ahead of time is essential, with registration open from 9.30am on the day.
