Grand prizes for 2015 APL

The Angling Professional League (APL) is setting itself apart.
With the next angling season commencing on August 1, the league introduced larger prize incentives to bolster competitiveness among fishermen.
This has been achieved partly through sponsorships of various competitions.
Beyond the winning clubs receiving a R500 prize at each stage of the league, the Knock-Out final and the Grand Challenge, the day’s best anglers are in the pound seats.
The best angler at the various stages also receives a non-floating trophy.
APL has since introduced a number of new categories, as well as special prizes for anglers who bag rare species of bass, eel or scaly fish.
The top three season anglers stand to benefit most.
At the conclusion of the angling season, podium finishers will be gifted branded angling gear and household appliances, valued at R10 000 in total.
“These incentives and prize money are likely to draw great interest among the high calibre of anglers within the ranks of the APL,” club representatives explained.
The calendar for this season has been finalised.
On August 16, the league casts off at Sandford, followed by the APL overnight open competition on the 28th and 29th, and the second league at Richgate Park on August 30.
Breakwaters and Stillwaters begin with the Champion of Champion on August 2.
