Winning combination of experience and youth
In the men’s doubles, the experience of Andries van Eck combined with the youth of Craig Chetty proved too strong for the other couples

The Ladysmith Badminton Club held a successful tournament at the Indoor Sports Complex on Saturday.
Players from Estcourt, Weenen, Harrismith, Newcastle, Vryheid and Ladysmith were in attendance.
In the men’s doubles, the experience of Andries van Eck combined with the youth of Craig Chetty proved too strong for the other couples. They were unbeaten, scoring 150 points.
In second place were two provincial players from Vryheid, Johan Kruger and Edger Benecke, with 132 points, while Potak Lam and Ahmed from Harrismith finished third with 118 points. I
n the men’s doubles ‘B’, honours went to Asnan and Vicky from Vryheid with 132 points, followed by Ahmed and Mosin of Estcourt with 125 points.
In the ladies’ doubles, Lettie du Plessis and Andrea Erasmus ran away with 100 points, with Mathilda and Siobhan on 87 points, and Rashida and Noor of Estcourt third on 85 points.
The mixed doubles was keenly contested, with Craig and Andrea both winning their second title on 136 points, with Zaid and Fatima second on 127 points, and Andries and Lettie third on 126 points.
Appreciation goes to Mac Signs for providing miniature trophies and medals.
Badminton is still on Thursdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Indoor Sports Complex. All are welcome to join.
