Vryheid Social Boat Angling Forum – Sakkie hooks a ‘monster’ at Klipfontein

VRYHEID’s Social Boat Angling Forum wishes to thank all the Vryheid anglers who participated in the charity fishing competition over the weekend.

Approximately 80 anglers took part in spectacular conditions on Saturday, with the weather playing along nicely for a fantastic day of fishing. The day got off to a great start with the first fish being weighed as early as 8:00am.

The day belonged to Sakkie Muller, who weighed in a monster barbel of 13kg. The winning carp, caught by Johan Barnard, weighed in at 3.7kg. Congratulations, guys.

The ‘Boerie Stand’ was well supported and no angler was left hungry. The children were certainly not excluded from the fun, being kept busy on a jumping castle which was kindly donated by Roman’s Pizza, who also generously donated a number of pizza vouchers for the lucky draws. A big thank you to Paul from Pebco Motorworks who donated the sheep as a winning prize. Hopefully, this fixture will become an annual event on Vryheid’s fishing calendar, with a variety of charities being in line to benefit from the proceeds thereof in future.

All fish caught for the duration of the event were released as per competition rules.
