Bowlers are requested to keep an eye on the notice board

Burnt End

The annual Kings Day sponsored trips competition was once again a resounding success, with a full house of 36 teams from all over the District competing.

The tournament, one of the most sought-after in the District, because of the fantastic spread offered to the bowlers all day, and the generous prizes won at the end of the day was this year a fitting tribute to the much-loved Oom Tollie and Tannie Malie, who both sadly passed away recently.

Newcastle Bowling Club extends its sincere thanks to the extended Willemse family for honouring their parents and grandparents in such a fitting way.

Prizes were awarded to 32 teams, with the top five places going to:

First – Trevor Smale, Anil Durgadin and Johan Coetzee (30 + 42).

Second – John Douthwaite, Fritz Botha and Marie Botha (29 + 31).

Third – Joan Schoon, Frans Schoon and Michelle Steele (28 + 48).

Fourth – Lorraine Vincent, Sue Hitchinson and Graeme Massey (28 + 33).

Fifth – Henk Zaal, Alex Zaal and Piet Theron (27 + 15).

The spring FedAuto Business League has once again got under way with fantastic support from the business community, filling all three greens every Thursday evening.

Bowlers are requested to keep an eye on the notice board, as there are a number of competitions coming up during the next couple of months.
