Phoenix club swoops up two victories in a row

Cricket season is in full swing and cricket enthusiasts are taking full advantage of the warm conditions.

Last Thursday evening, Phoenix Cricket Club took on Highland Cricket Club at Paradise Sports Grounds, which resulted in a good victory for Phoenix.

Highlanders were bowled out for just 92 runs.

With seven overs in hand, Phoenix amassed 93 runs to clinch the victory, a trend which continued with a second victory over Highland at Newcastle High School’s grounds the following day.

Phoenix was first in to bat this time.

After smashing 276 runs in the allotted 30 overs, Highland found the hefty total a bridge too far, finding itself 120 runs all out.

Phoenix next faces Lennoxton Cricket Club this Saturday at Newcastle High School from 2pm.
