Northern Natal Schools Golf League
During 2014, a need was identified by Sport Masters to start a Northern Natal Schools Golf League, for handicap and beginner golfers.
During 2014, a need was identified by Sport Masters to start a Northern Natal Schools Golf League, for handicap and beginner golfers.
Schools that participated in the league were Newcastle, Ferrum, Vryheid, Pioneer and Sarel Cilliers High Schools.
The Schools Golf League took place at the Newcastle, Vryheid, Dundee and Kilbarchan Golf Clubs, with tournaments being held once every school term.
The league had three divisions namely Medal Stable ford, individual points system and novice two ball American scramble.
Golfers taking part in the Medal Stable Ford division and the individual points category should have an official handicap.
Trophies and prizes were awarded to each divisional winner.
Marking the end of the year, the following golfers received trophies and prizes:
Medal Division Winner: Michael Prince.
Individual Points System Division Winner: Cameron Gurr.
Girls Division Winners: Sune Pawson and Nicolé Grobler.
Boys Division Winner: Quinton Stander and Julian Kriel.
The organisers thanked their sponsors Joe Filipe and Johan Jonker for making the league possible.
A further vote of thanks goes out to all the schools for allowing their golfers to participate in the league. We look forward to a bigger, better league for 2016!
