Burnt End

The annual Old versus Young competition was played on Saturday afternoon, with the over 60s pitting themselves against the under 60s.

Following wins in 2013 and 2014, the young’uns were confident they would again beat the old fogeys, who in turn were determined not to let this happen.

After the first round, each team recorded two wins and two losses, and the final round was thus going to be the decider.

With thoughts of the oldies fading and not lasting the pace in the late afternoon, the youngsters recorded two victories, but so too did the oldies.

Final score – eight points each with the oldies recording a resounding victory, winning with a +3 shot difference.

The youngsters are advised to keep practising for the next challenge in 2016.

Entries are still open for the Pro 10 Two Bowl Pairs Competition, which takes place this Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

Two teams from each club qualify for the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls playoffs, with the winner and runner-up of those playoffs qualifying for an all-expenses paid entry into the National playoffs, to be held in Cape Town next year – something worth playing for!
