Vryheid Cricket Club – Bring on the Business League

Vryheid Cricket Club is starting a Business/Social “8-a-side” Cricket League.

“It is open to any persons regardless of gender or age. The idea is to play two games on Saturday afternoons with the first game starting at 1pm. Teams will not be playing every weekend and will possibly play twice a month. We do have club players available to fill any teams, should they be needed. Kit will be available at the club should anyone need. The league will be completely social and promises to be great fun!”

8-a-Side Rules

1. All normal cricketing rules will apply.
2. 8 Players per team – the squad has no limitation.
3. A maximum of 4 club players per team.
4. Subs will cost R400 per team for entire league – payable before the first game.
5. 15 overs per innings, every player to bowl 2 overs and the wicket keeper is to bowl the last over.
6. The wicket keeper may not be changed during the game.
7. Wides and no balls will not be bowled over, 5 runs will be given to the batting team.
8. With any no ball, the next legal ball will be a free hit.
9. Teams are to supply their own balls.
10. Batsmen will retire once scoring 20 runs, but can come back after all wickets have fallen.
11. The bowlers are restricted to a 5m run up.
12. The games will start at 1pm on Saturdays.

Points System

• Win – 5 points
• Loss – 2 points
• Draw – 3 points
• Every 30 runs – 1 point
• Every wicket – 1 point
• Every girl in team – 2 points
