Breakwaters captain, Monty Slabbert emerged as the Angler of the Day, amassing 38 points to end six clear of Kaveer Singh and 11 points ahead of Shane Mangaroo.

In total, Breakwaters scored 249 points, while Challengers (173) and Stillwaters (38) trailed.

Breakwaters will hope to capitalise on the momentum, ahead of the Transnat Knock Out Champion clash with Challengers on April 24.

On the personal side, Monty received the orange cap, R200 and an outright trophy.

However, Kaveer remained the overall leader after the weekend, his 94 points helping him retain the purple cap.

Shane is the closest contender, with 61 points.

Terrence Chetty was also lauded for reeling in, and later releasing, a massive barbel, tipping the scales at just over nine kilogrammes.

Record holders and title holders for the Angling Professional League are thus:

Heaviest scaled fish – Minesh Gopi for a 3,36kg catch during League 3;

Heaviest non scaled fish – Terrence Chetty for a 9kg catch during the Knock Out Eliminator;

Rare species – Ethan Burger for a Kurper of 625 grams;

Junior Angler of the Year – Kamishen Govender with 20 points;

Lady Angler of the Year – T Boodhoo;

Senior Angler of the Year – Dan Govender with 56 points;

Angler of the Year – Kaveer Singh with 94 points.

The top five anglers for Breakwaters were: Monty Slabbert (38 points), Kaveer Singh (32 points), Shane Mangaroo (27 points), Sipho Manyoni (23 points) and Chris Lello (18 points).

The next fixture of the APL is the VME League 5 on February 21.

Richgate Park will be ground zero for a three-way encounter between table leaders, Breakwaters on 22 points, Challengers with 18 points and Stillwaters with eight.
