Winter Sports Challenge makes the right moves, marking 10 years
The four-day event continues to grow.
The Endumeni Winter Sports Challenge this year celebrates 10 years. Ash Khan of the organisers, Naz FC, says the four-day event, scheduled for May 4-7 at Kallies Stadium, continues to grow.
“This year sees, for the first time, a chess competition,” Ash said, adding that the usual huge attractions, stall, funland competitions, side shows, soccer, cricket, volleyball, netball, boxing (all for under 13s), are bound to be crowd-pullers. “We want to make chess a major sport in Endumeni – this can only happen with schools coming on board, and their teams of talented members who will make it happen this year at the Endumeni Winter Sports Challenge. Ash said eight teams have already registered and urged teams to ensure that they make the deadline. “Team managers must make sure that they do not use non-registered players.”
The fixtures and draws will take place at the Endumeni Municipality on February 8 at 3pm sharp. “Teachers or captains should attend the meeting – their attendance is important to ensure we can take heed of their input.”
Mr Khan welcomed anyone interested in stalls saying they should contact him. Organisations interested in doing fund-raising at the event are welcome and they will be charged for a stall.
