Close calls as cricket action hots up

There were a number of tight games as competition heated up in the Umzinyathi Cricket Association’s league games this past week. There was one big victory as Ace Eagles’ dynamic duo, Yusheer and Udien, stole the show.

Farmers vs Tigers – T20
Tigers batted first and made 95/8 in their allotted overs. Vernen top scored with 24 and Saied made 15. Farmers’ best bowlers were Tiron and Joff who took 2/12 and 2/18 respectively. Tigers fell just short in their run chase as they were bowled out for 92. Roger top scored with 26 and Joff made 22. Shannon took 3/11, Logan took 3/12 and Vernen took 3/21 as Tigers picked up a good win.

Paki Lions vs Rebels – T20
Paki Lions batted first and made 128/9. Adeel top scored with 40 and Hafiz chipped with 25. Dean took 4/26 and Mfundo took 2/14 for Rebels. In reply Rebels were restricted to 121/7, 8 runs short of victory. Mfundo made 44 and Aezaz made 36. Adeel took 2/21 and Sakib took 1/28 as Paki Lions picked up a close victory.

Ace Eagles vs Umzinyathi Development – 30 Overs
Ace Eagles batted first and made a massive 289/2 thanks to a pair of brilliant knocks from Yusheer and Udien. Yusheer made 130 not out while Udien made 103 not out. In reply Umzinyathi were bowled out for only 85. Mohammed Fayat top scored with 38 and Rakesh made 16.
Udien was brilliant with ball in hand as he was with bat, taking 4/11. Mooji took 3/12 as Ace claimed a massive win.

Rebels vs Paki Lions – 30 Overs
Paki Lions batted first and made 171/8 from their allotted overs. Farouk top scored with 91 and Adeel chipped in with 40. Dean took 5/27 and Haroon took 3/31 for Rebels. In reply Rebels were 140/7 when bad light stopped play. The game was tied and both teams shared the points.
