Soccer madness was the order of the day, as the ArcelorMittal Soccer league continued last Friday with six matches at Fernwood, Paradise and Ferrum sports grounds.
Steel Plant went against Central Maintenance at Paradise. As Steel Plant lost three – one to Rod Mills, and Central Maintenance lost three – nil to Blast Furnace earlier in the league, both teams were eager to clinch the victory, but Steel Plant proved to be the better team with a score of one – nil over Central Maintenance.
Rod Mill then faced Coke Ovens. Still elated about the win against Steel Plant the previous weekend, Rod Mill refused to let a loss mar its position on the log and won with a score of five – one.
Blast Furnace beat Bar Mill with a score of three – one at Fernwood. Medium Mill then crushed Billet Mill with a score of two – nil, also at Fernwood.
At Ferrum, Infrastructure took on Sinter Plant. Sinter Plant’s match against Admin Building was cut short the previous weekend’s match, due to overzealous spectators’ interference. This left the team hungry for the victory, which it accomplished by defeating Infrastructre with a score of two – one.
Admin Building, also eager to win after the failed match against Sinter Plant, played against Materials Handling. Admin Building walked off the field victorious with a score of two – nil.
Rod Mill is currently at the top of the log, having won six of the seven games played and only one draw. Blast Furnace is in second position and Admin Building in third.
On Friday, May 26, Coke Ovens will play against Steel Plant at Fernwood, while Infrastructure will compete against Materials Handling.
At Paradise, Central Maintenance will go up against Bar Mill, while Medium Mill will face Admin Building.
At Ferrum, Rod Mill will play Billet Mill and Blast Furnace will face Sinter Plant.
