Great season at an end, with prizes for top anglers
Breakwaters were crowned VME League champions and AA Tours Grand Challenge champions
2016/2017 was a great season, as both members of Breakwaters and Stillwaters acquitted themselves well in the Angling Professional League.
Breakwaters were crowned VME League champions and AA Tours Grand Challenge champions, while they had to settle for the runner-up position in the Transnat Knock-Out, with Ladysmith crowned as KO champions.
Stillwaters finished third in the league, an improved performance compared to the past season.
In the internal titles honours, it was Stillwaters members who walked away with most of the major titles.
It was also a fantastic season for Nadir Chrisenduth, who was crowned as ‘Angler of the Year’ for Breakwaters with 87 points and finished overall second in the Angling Professional League.
The title contenders for Breakwaters/Stillwaters for season 2016/2017 are: Vernon Naidoo (heaviest scaled fish – carp of 3.375kg); Sikander Amod (heaviest non-scaled fish – barbel of 6.9kg); Thasheel Rooplal (heaviest scaly of 1.210kg); Suvyn Budhoo (rare specie – a bass of 1,090kg); Fanie Els (heaviest eel); Albert van Niekerk (highest point scorer – 40 points in League 4); Veruschka Boodhoo (Lady Angler of the Year); Talia Boodhoo (Junior Angler of the Year); Kidd Rampersadh (Senior Angler of the Year), A Masthan (Social Outing Champion – Scaled Category); Sanjeev Hanook (Social Outing Champion – Non-Scaled Category); Mark Ince (Singles KO Internal Champion); Anil Boodhoo and Mark Ince (Doubles Internal KO Champions); Wayne Oosthuizen (Champion of Champions and Grand Challenge Champion) and Nadir Chrisenduth (Most Fish Caught; League Champion; Knock-Out Champion and Angler of the Year).
