Squash lessons for children at the Paradise Sports Grounds
A group of 14 children visited the squash courts at the Paradise Sports Grounds in order to participate in a squash workshop.
PARADISE – Breaking the illusion that squash is for merely for the business class, Squash South Africa recently allocated funding to be used for squash development among the youth in Newcastle.
A group of 14 children visited the squash courts at the Paradise Sports Grounds in order to participate in a squash workshop.
The youth were taught the basics, such as the correct way to hold a racquet, foot movements, dimensions of the court, the rules of the game, the importance of fitness and the correct attire to wear when playing.
Through developing the necessary skills to become capable squash players, the children were soon enthralled with the fast-paced sport.
In fact, the training session captivated them to such an extent, they will be training every Saturday from 11am to 12pm.
Faisal Shaik and Dali Mahaye, both experienced players, will take on the role of coaches and teach the youngster to fully embrace squash.
Through the weekly lessons, Shaik said him and Mahaye were hoping to develop the youngsters’ talent to a level where they could participate in league fixtures in the future.
