Ebees Express Top 5 competition held at Chelmsford Dam
The event was the Ebees Express Top 5 competition, which entitled the top five anglers of each affiliated club to compete for a grand cash prize of R3 000.
NTSHINGWAYO DAM – The final event on the Natal Fresh Water Angling Association calendar was recently settled at Chelmsford Dam.
The event was the Ebees Express Top 5 competition, which entitled the top five anglers of each affiliated club to compete for a grand cash prize of R3 000.
This was a highly anticipated event anglers had prepared the whole season for, and would give the winning club bragging rights for the upcoming season. Organisers stated this event was set to separate the men from the boys.
Anglers were forced to work for their points, as fish were not biting as easily as competitors had hoped.
Riverside Angling Club, led by its determined and motivated captain Vernon Naicker, captured the win and R3 000 prize.
Riverside ended with 15 points, followed by Docrats on 13 points.
The ever improving new club, Endumeni shocked many with its placement in third on eight points.
League Champion for the season, Itec Freespool had to settle for fourth place with five points, followed by Chelmsford in last on three points.
The heaviest fish of the day weighed at 3.45kg and was caught by Morris Thompson of Docrats Angling Club, which earned him R250 sponsored by Ebrahim Ismail.
The anglers will now take a deserved break ahead of the next season starting in August.
The NFWAA thanked all sponsors for the season, and wished all Muslim anglers and their families Ramadan Mubarak and a peaceful and joyous Eid.
