For 24 years, the Sanlam Cancer Challenge has raised money for the fight against cancer, raising an amount well over R24-million.
The event is buoyed by amateur golfers who rise to the occasion.
This was the case at the Kilbarchan Golf Club on Saturday (June 3), when a large field of players contested one of the few local legs of the competition. Results from Saturday are as follows:
Bryan Boardman clinched top position in the A Division competition, with James Bonthuyzen second after a count out.
Trevor Botha ended in third.
The B Division winner was Nicol van Wyk, followed by Allan Knox and Robbie Niemann respectively.
Frik Matthee was the C Division’s top golfer.
Second place went to Hannes Liebenberg Junior and the third position was taken by Kevin Hobden.
Newcastle Golf Club hosts the next event of the Sanlam Cancer Challenge calendar this Saturday, where another 18 holes will be played in charitable spirit.
