Ward 19 soccer tournament wraps up

14 teams from Chievely, Thembalihle, Cornfields and Ekutheleni participated in the tournament

After two weeks of intense competition, the final of the Ward 19 soccer tournament was played on Sunday.

14 teams from Chievely, Thembalihle, Cornfields and Ekutheleni participated in the tournament, which started two weeks ago. As the final drew closer, the teams were eliminated until Umbombo FC and United FC were the final two teams in the final.

Both Cornfields teams gave a spectacular show to the fans, with Umbombo FC victorious in the end. The team won R3 000. Runners-up United FC won R2 000. This Saturday, eight Under 15 soccer teams will be playing in Cornfields.

There is R1 000 cash up for grabs for the top two teams.

The Ward 19 Fun Run is also being planned and will be hosted on October 7. For more information contact Mr Mchunu 072 157 6648.
