10th annual Flotek golf day – a flowing success

James Muller from LW Tanks in Southbroom was delighted to have achieved his first nearest to the pin plus 2 club during the Flotek Day.

The annual FloTek golf day, now in its 10th year, was held at Dundee Country Club on Saturday and attracted a wonderful field of over 70 golfers and the club express their thanks and appreciation to Kallie and Liza Roets for yet another successful golf day.
Winning the better ball competition was the pairing of Clement Chawanda and Mandla Mthethwa on 49 points. Jo Khumalo and his partner Cyril Mkhwanazi came in second with 47 points while taking home the third prize was Mark Nero and Reynier Van Rensburg (Jnr).
The novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the short holes went to: B Chiwaya on No. 4, D Miller on No. 8, G Joyce on No. 12 and B Boardman on the 16th hole. R Albertse won the longest drive on the 13th hole for the men and H Hlongwane won the Ladies longest drive on the seventh hole.

Over the long weekend, the club held their 31st Battlefields Tournament and the highlight of the weekend was the appearance on Friday and Saturday by Louis Albertse (Jnr), who has just recently received an entry into the professional ranks. At the prize giving on Saturday evening Louis was awarded Honorary membership of Dundee Country Club and received his certificate from Vice-President Henk Booysen. (See next week’s Courier for a photograph of this auspicious occasion).
The results from the Battlefields Tournament were as follows:
Friday’s Better Ball Bonus Bogey winners were the father and son pairing of Bruce and Mason Meyer with a score of +11. Second place went to Clement Chawanda and Mandla Mthethwa on +10.
Saturday’s Better Ball Stableford winners were the Sithole brothers, Sibusiso and Melusi, on 46 points with C Maphanga and H Hlongwane in second place on 45 points.
Sunday’s Combined Stableford competition saw S Sithole and his partner, W Langa, winning with 77 points, while Henk Booysen and Willie Maritz finished in second place with 75 points.
The annual Club Strokeplay Championship takes place this coming weekend with 18 holes being played on Saturday afternoon and a further 18 holes on Sunday morning. Members who would like to compete in the Club Champs are required to enter their names on the list by 6pm on Friday, April 13.
Golfers are to please note that the Monthly Mug Medal competition for April will also be held on Saturday.
