ANGLING: Freespool defends its league title
The executive of the NNFWAA congratulated all members who made the top five of their respective clubs, and wished them well for the remainder of the season.
The Northern Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NNFWAA) League came down to the final round.
With Itec Frespool, Chelmsford and Docrats angling clubs all level on points, the last encounter at Sandford Islands would be the decider as to who claimed the champion’s crown.
Anglers were greeted with ideal fishing conditions on the day.
The favourite was arguably Chelmsford, with the club in form and its president, Shandy Singh determined to stake his claim on a historic double victory.

However, Freespool had an excellent haul at the weigh-in.
Captain of the club, Ski Mohan led from the front with 17 points, which helped push Freespool to a point total of 67.
Riverside and Chelmsford ended second and third respectively.
The heaviest scaled fish weighed 3.28 kilogrammes and was caught by Ronnie Rampersadh of Freespool, and the heaviest barbel went to Vishu Pillay of Riverside.
“The final fixture of the NNFWAA calendar sees the top five anglers of each club fish off for a handsome prize purse.”
