The Dundee JKA Karate Club proved that they can compete with the best in the country and come out on tops too.
The dojo recently had 22 students compete at the South African JKA National Championships on May 25 and 26. This was a massive improvement from last year when only four karateka competed.
The students, most of them competing at this level for the first time, did really well earning six gold medals, six silver medals, and two bronze medals.
Twelve students received their SA JKA National Colours, and four have qualified for the JKA All Africa Cup, which will be in Johannesburg at the Ellis Park indoor Arena from August 28 to September 1.
Trisha Rajkumar, Samiksha Rambalie, Taashlin Soobramoney and Shreyas Ragubeer will be flying the country’s flag high at the tournament.
