Wilfie Laatz wins the Sanlam Cancer Golf Challenge
Winners of each division go through to the regionals and the club wishes the winners all the best
On June 16, Estcourt Golf Club hosted the annual Sanlam Cancer Challenge, a fundraising golf competition by Sanlam at numerous golf clubs throughout the country, where funds go directly to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CanSA).

Winners of each division go through to the regionals and the club wishes the winners all the best at those regionals later in the year. At the same time, club members remember past members who lost the fight against cancer, Ian Freeman and Robbie Wattrus.

Winning on the day in A division on 39 points was Wilfie Laatz with a count out for second and third between Rajen Goodoon and Paddy Geraty.
The B division was won by Viren Omardath on 43 points and the C division was won by Johan Wagenaar on 43 points.
Lionel Laatz won the closest to the pin on number three and Harry Kooverjee won the jackpot with 12 points.
Luke Schiever had the only two club on the day and he also played his shoot out match against Arnold Fortmann and won that. Estcourt golfers managed to raise R 3 690 for the Sanlam Cancer Golf Challenge and the club would like to thank Bruce Keneth and Alicia Dreyer from Sanlam for the lovely prizes and successful day.

Dates to remember will be June 30, Robbie Wattrus Memorial Day, then the St Greg’s Golf Day on July 21. This coming Wednesday will be the Fred Vickers Bunny and Golf Day. Please support the sponsors. The Midway Restaurant Golf Day will be played on the following Wednesday, the 27th.
