Wrestlers are ready for SA Champs in Durnacol
The latest round of the No Mercy series, held in the Glencoe Primary School hall, proved to be the ideal warm-up to the championships when about 60 wrestling warriors did battle.
Durnacol will play host to the South African Wrestling Championships on June 29-30 and the local Rhinos Wrestling Club are expected to dominate the KZN team that will compete against the other provinces.
The latest round of the No Mercy series, held in the Glencoe Primary School hall, proved to be the ideal warm-up to the championships when about 60 wrestling warriors did battle.
The local Northern Natal Wrestling club entered 26 wrestlers. Wrestling of high standard was on display. Africa champion, Kleinjan Combrink, from Richards Bay outclassed the field with his superior technique and agility.
The locals enjoyed home ground advantage and were cheered on by their enthusiastic supporters. Coach, Steven Brown, was upbeat about this wrestlers’ progress and believes the KZN team will take home a load of medals. The following wrestlers took home medals from the No Mercy event:
Tion Brown, Ernst van Rooyen, Jurgens Booysen Kyle Senekal. Marcus Groenewaldt, Louis La Gransie, Henk Booysen, Mhleli Mncwanga, Logan Goosen, Ricky Basson, Donovan Stander, Ziphozonke Buthelezi, Dillan Guelpa Spo Mahongo, Theuns van der Merwe, Sifiso Ximba, Jayden Goose, Nollie Brown, Thato Moloi, Conner Cooper, Bernique Beukes, Leonard Kruger, Adriaan Kriek, Daniel Mostert, Jacquan Alant and Keegan Basson.
