Ladysmith drag racers show off their talent and excel in Dundee Winter Challenge
Daily drivers to exotic super cars wowed the crowds in a safe and controlled environment
Sunday marked an historic day in the motor sport calendar of Northern KZN, as the Endumeni Motorsport Club hosted its second Drag Challenge at the Dundee airfield.
This time titled ‘Winter Challenge 2018’ in aid of donating 1000 blankets to the needy, the club surpassed all expectations. A massive crowd of over 2500 spectators and over 120 participant vehicles flocked to Dundee to enjoy a spectacular and well-planned motoring event.
Bike and car speed fanatics from Ladysmith also turned up at the event in numbers to pull out all the stops for the thousands of spectators who came from far and wide.
Many Ladysmith riders and drivers did extremely well at the event, and say they will definitely be going back if there are events like this in the future.
‘Winter Challenge 2018’ has proven that motoring events of this magnitude have a special place in the hearts of many.
The crowd was treated to screaming tyres and revving engines. Daily drivers to exotic super cars wowed the crowds in a safe and controlled environment.
There were also food vendors and car dealers to keep everyone satisfied. The fastest car on the day was the Skyline GTR of Dundee’s Nabeel Dawood, which clocked the 1/4 mile (400m) in 10.61 seconds.
The fastest super bike was none other than the Suzuki GXR belonging to Ladysmith’s Ronald Janki, which clocked a heart-stopping time of 10.10 seconds.
