A celebration through sport

Not even the gusty winds extinguished their sporting spirit.

Celebrating Women’s Day around the world was the objective behind the Al-Hafizath Women’s Forum to host a Gala day on Sunday at 72 Poona Road.

The day saw teams of women from the local community representing Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

A parade of the three teams and their mascots set the mood of friendly competition among the large crowd.

The women did not hold back and showed their determined zeal to win netball and volleyball matches as well as track events.

Not even the gusty winds extinguished their sporting spirit.

The intense competition didn’t stop the ladies from celebrating Women’s Day.

There was also tons of socializing and fun to be had as spectators excitedly cheered the teams.

South Africa was the winner of track events and overall winners for the day.

The co-ordinator of the event, Hafiza Mirza stated, “Today was all about getting women together and celebrating each others worth.”
