Itec Freespool Angling Club wraps up a great season

The club recently held its annual awards function, honouring the consistency, perseverance and occasional strokes of luck which characterised the season.

Freespool anglers who earned trophies during the angling season.

Itec Freespool has thanked its members for another successful angling season.

The club recently held its annual awards function, honouring the consistency, perseverance and occasional strokes of luck which characterised the season.

Club president, Clifford Robson opened proceedings.

He thanked members for their dedication, commitment and sportsmanship throughout the season, and announced the new season kicked off at the weekend (August 19).

Then it was on to the season’s successes.

Freespool boasted a title win in the Northern Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NNFWAA) League, and a second position finish in the Knock Out competition.

Its members also achieved individual excellence this season.

Club captain, Ski Mohan led from the front by winning the titles of Angler of the Year, Highest Points Scorer and for his success in the NNFWAA League.

Seelan Gounden was another angler with multiple honours.

He claimed the Internal Knock Out Singles title, in addition to the Champion of Champions crown and the Knock Out trophy.

Other notable winners were:

Mervyn Budhoo – Heaviest Scaled Fish, Marcus Davids – Heaviest Non-Scaled Fish and, David Carolissen and Ebrahim Valli – Internal Knock Out Doubles champions.

The Social Outing prizes were claimed by Krish Sheoprasadh and Tim Barrett.

The most popular winner this past season was said to be undoubtedly Zahrah Gounden, a female angler who won the junior title and also finished fifth on the overall log table, out of 35 total anglers.
