Wind roars around the greens
The return of the August wind made bowling rather difficult

Twilight Bowls began on Wednesday evening (August 15) and we had a few bowlers and non-bowlers come out and have some fun. After eight ends, these bowlers were treated to a lovely toasted sandwich supplied by Bob and Des – thanks very much.
Sunday saw one green full for the Rod and Emma van Deventer sponsored day, a most enjoyable day of bowls even with the return of the August wind that made bowling rather difficult.
As always, bowls came out tops!
The winners of this day were: Rodney Perrin, Bob Corringham and Des Maartens; while second place went to Willy Scholtz, Rob Halton and Liz Mackintosh.
Bringing up the rear in third place were Fran Baleri, Eros Jannon and Zwane, Klipbank’s assistant green keeper.
Congratulations and well bowled to all of you.
It was brought to my attention that I omitted one name from the bowlers who have been selected to play in the Presidents Cup in October. That name is Bob Corringham. Well done, Bob, and my sincere apologies, but luckily you brought it to my attention.
This coming weekend will see the men invade the Country Club to take part in the LCC Men’s Fours, so good bowling to them.
A large contingent of bowlers and non-bowlers are heading off to the South Coast to have a very social weekend, with some bowls being played in the famous Moths Mills Bomb.
Please all drive and arrive safely.
Invitations for the next Business League have been sent out, so make sure you enter your teams.
Any business that has not entered before, please know you are all welcome to come and do some team building.
