48 golfers pay tribute to Oom Okkie
This coming Wednesday will be the final round for the winter in Dave's Wednesday competition, and we encourage as many players as possible to participate as there will be a complimentary braai for the golfers at prize giving.
Forty-eight golfers turned up on Saturday at Dundee Country Club to participate in the annual Oom Okkies se Bokkies golf day.
Since the passing of Okkie Webber a few years ago, the Dundee lady golfers have annually put together a golf day in remembrance of the jovial old man who brought many a smile to fellow golfers.
Winning the “Tombstone” competition was Kevin Donaldson who managed to complete the eighteen holes and still continue to play up the second fairway before being laid to rest. Shakeel Kalideen was runner-up, with Mandla Mthethwa and Billy Francis finishing in third and fourth place respectively.
Novelty prizes for nearest the pin went to; Walter Du Plessis on the 8th, Mike Gardner on the 12th and Shakeel Kalideen on the 16th hole. Lala Govender took home the prize for closest for two on the 18th hole.

To welcome in ‘Spring’ on Saturday, September 1, the Club competition will be Monthly Mug Medal competition.
