Jacques and Nan clinch bowling honours

In the end, Langfontein and The Cherrybums peeled 6 all and shared the title of Super Knock Out Challenge Champion.

Nine ladies and 12 men gathered at the Bowling Club on Saturday morning to compete for the coveted title of Singles Champion.
The men were divided up into four sections of three and the ladies, three sections of three. Some brilliant bowls were played on Saturday and each section was closely contested.
At the end of the day, it was Jacques Bierbaum, Dudley Fleischman, Angus Millar and Des Johnson who went through to the playoffs of the men’s section on Sunday and in the ladies section, it was Nan Roos, Rita and Taryn Bierbaum that went through to Sunday. The wind certainly took its toll on the players on Sunday making playing conditions quite tough. Nan was her normal consistent self and played beautifully to take the crown of Ladies Singles Champion for 2018.
It wasn’t that easy in the men’s section though as Angus and Dudley played against each other on Sunday morning. It was a tightly contested game with Dudley coming out on top and in so doing booked himself a place in the final.
In the other semi-final, Jacques and Des had a real humdinger with the game going to 28 ends and Jacques coming out on top and winning the game by only two shots.
The Men’s final was played on Sunday afternoon in what felt like gale force winds. Jacques and Dudley also had a very tight game but in the end, it was Jacques that won 21-20 and won himself the title of Men’s Singles Champion for 2018.
Congratulations to the winners and all of the other players that played over the weekend and a big thank you to Greg for doing what he does so well and running yet another well-organised competition.
Super Knock Out Challenge
The Super Knock Out Challenge came to a close this past Thursday evening, however, things didn’t turn out as planned as the rain set in half-way through the games and players had to run for cover. Six ends constituted a game and thankfully the rain held off long enough for this to take place. In the end, Langfontein and The Cherrybums peeled 6 all and shared the title of Super Knock Out Challenge Champion. This was a great competition and mention must go to Greg for his initiative in hosting a competition like this.
