Alfred Duma employees take part in Mandela Marathon
All the local athletes successfully completed the marathon and brought medals home
Alfred Duma Local Municipality employees participated in the annual Nelson Mandela Marathon, which took place in Edendale on Sunday, August 26. The marathon, comprising three different races, was run from Edendale to the Nelson Mandela capture site in Howick.
Local athletes, who are also employees of the municipality, ran the marathon. In sponsoring and supporting good health and sportsmanship, Alfred Duma Local Municipality also assisted with the logistics of the race.
Among the nine athletes who participated were Mr SE Mazibuko (Executive Director: Development Planning & Human Settlements) and Mr M Hloba (Chief Financial Officer).
All local athletes successfully completed the marathon and brought medals home.
Municipal Manager Miss SS Ngiba, who was also there among the cheering crowd, expressed great pride in these athletes and congratulated them on their strength in completing the race.
In the midst of all the excitement, the athletes thanked the municipality for the support and vouched to recruit more athletes to represent the municipality next year.
